The passing of Former Wolfpack Commander COL (R) Rod Coffey

Dear Dragoons:

It is my sad duty to report the passing of Former Wolfpack Commander COL (R) Rod Coffey.
His life will be celebrated this weekend in Maryland.
Colonel Rod Andrew Coffey, passed away September 28, 2018. Col. Coffey was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to Robert and Loretta Coffey. He grew up in Rhode Island and then attended Carnegie Mellon University where he earned a Bachelors Degree and later in life went on to earn two Master’s Degrees.
Col. Coffey served 27 years active duty in the United States Army. Col. Coffey met and married his wife, Holly Coffey while stationed at Fort Drum, New York. While stationed at Fort Hood, Texas his two sons, Nathanael and Thomas were born. He was also assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia where he deployed to Kosovo. He also was deployed several times to Iraq. In Iraq, Col. Coffey commanded the 3rd Squadron 2nd Cavalry Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2007 to 2009. He was also stationed in Washington, DC and retired and worked as a Department of Defense contractor. He will always be loved and missed. He is survived by Holly Coffey, Nathanael and Thomas Coffey.
Friends may visit on Sunday October 7, 2018 from 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. in the Barranco & Sons,P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday October 8, 2018 at 1:00p.m. in the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment with full honors will be held in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
The family has requested photos of Rod to be shown. Please send photos and videos of COL (Ret) Rod Coffey to the following email addresses. They are going to make a video montage of the pictures.

Because of the lead time required, information for Full Military Honors burial at Arlington National Cemetery is unknown at this time.
There will be no viewing just prior to burial in Arlington.
The only viewing times will be 7-8 October 2018.
