Merry Christmas to all Dragoons
and wishing you a Happy New Year!
Dragoon!
As we enter the season of family and friends I cannot help but think of all the Christmases I spent away from home with my Army family. Two of my five Christmases with the Regiment were spent in foreign lands surrounded by those with whom I served. I am sure there are many of you that have spent more time with our brothers and sisters in arms than that. I am always reminded at how we pull together and make do to have the best most “normal” holiday possible while still executing our mission, and putting ourselves in harm’s way. It’s this time of year that I am most grateful to be home, safe and away from conflict. It is also this time of year that I am most reflective of the ones we lost. Those that will never know another holiday with family and loved ones and the families that have empty seats at the table.
That legacy of service and sacrifice has gone hand and hand in our regiment since 1836. Since our first casualties in Florida to our last in Afghanistan, the Regiment has fought, served and sacrifices to keep our country strong.
Please take this holiday season to reach out to those you served with, to rekindle those old friendships and reestablish those bonds with those you have shared so much with.
And please, give to the Regimental Memorial Fund to ensure we don’t go another year without recognizing those Dragoons that have been lost since 1836. This is a Regimental effort and we all need to pitch in and give to get us on the objective in 2020
