FLASH – SPOT REPORT UPDATE

May 2025

PARTY LIKE ITS 1836

FRIDAY IS THE CELEBRATION

My fellow Dragoons it’s hard to believe that we are getting ready to celebrate our 189th birthday. I swear, none of us look even 150 years old, must be all that clean Border living and good chow from Ray’s Diner. Now for those of you not quite as old as the folks will get the above reference, we spent nearly half a century on the frontier freedom facing down the Soviets, the Communist Czechs, and the STASI governed East Germans. During that time, Ray’s Diner was probably the most renowned DFAC in Cold War Germany.

Now that I’ve had the chance to ramble. Let me tell you what we’re going to do on 23 May. Once again, we are going to gather worldwide to celebrate all things Dragoon. At 1100 hrs. Jack Waldron is going to sound Adjutant’s Call and Dragoon Base-Gettysburg will call the Regiment to order and begin the roll call of the sites. Honorary RCSM Dwayne Parrish and RCSM Dennis Doyle will open with “Remember your Regiment” followed by “our 2d Cav Association” by Association chairman Bryan Denny.

We will then do the check ins from the primary sites beginning with the Twiggs Cemetery followed by River Bend, Palo Alto, Fort Keogh, Gettysburg, Asch, Bělá nad Radbuzou, Zinkovy Castle, Mödlareuth, Merrell Barracks, Hof, the 2d Cavalry Memorial at Fort Benning, and greetings from Vern Schmidt. After we go through the primary sites, we will open up the mic for worldwide birthday greetings from anyone who wants to participate. (If you want to participate, please register using the button below)

We will then have comments from the Association President, and HCOR Frank Hurd will introduce the 83rd Col. of the Regiment, Col. Neal, who make some remarks from Lunéville and lead the toast to the Regiment.

The Adjutant will take charge of the formation, and following the playing retreat, will close the proceedings.

We strongly encourage as many of you as possible to participate.
