1. SITUATION
a. Weather and light data.
(1) Light conditions: Omitted
(2) Weather forecast for the operation: warm, sunny weather and long daylight hours. However, it is also the wettest month, with a high number of rainy days, especially in the afternoon and particularly in the mountains. Expect average high temperatures to range between 68–75°F (20–24°C). Nighttime temperatures generally fall to a comfortable 52–57°F (11–14°C). In the mountains, nights are cooler, with lows around 49°F (9°C).June has the highest number of rainy days in the year for many parts of Bavaria. Rain often comes in the form of short, heavy showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. The humidity level can be higher in June, especially in the days leading up to a thunderstorm.
(3) Effects of weather and light conditions on the operation: Negligible.
b. Terrain. Varied. Operations are to be conducted north of the Danube (Donau) River. This major river flows across central Bavaria, dividing the state and creating wide valleys. North of the Danube, the terrain includes higher plateaus and is drained by the Main River. The Bavarian Forest is a wooded, low-mountain region along the eastern border Bohemia and consists primarily of the Bohemian Plateau, a large river basin with rolling plains and hills, surrounded by low mountain ranges to the northwest and the Bohemian Forest to the southwest. The landscape is characterized by a large elevated basin, the Elbe River system, and is generally hilly and picturesque. The terrain of the Rhine Gorge is defined by a dramatic, deep, and winding canyon with steep, slate-covered slopes, carved into the Rhenish Slate Mountains. The valley is filled with vine-covered hillsides and numerous historic hilltop castles, particularly in the Middle Rhine Valley section. This dramatic landscape features narrow passages, most famously at the Loreley rock, and small, historic settlements along the river banks, reflecting its long history as a vital trade route.
The road network will be adequate for the operation with no significant obstacles.
c. Enemy forces. NONE The operation will be conducted exclusively within friendly territory.
d. Friendly forces (include the following items as applicable).
(1) Mission of higher headquarters: The Association’s Mission is threefold; Preserve and share our history, support our veterans, and to support our Regiment whenever the need arises.
2. Mission. Task Force Rusty Spur members will deploy to AA Frankfurt Flughaven, perform precombat checks and services before embarking on a non-tactical movement throughout Bavaria, Bohemia and culminating in the Rhine Gorge.
3. Execution.
Intent. This special off-cycle reunion will take us through the regimental Cold War sites, a projected regimental change of command, some of our World War II sites in the Czech Republic and culminate with the boat ride through the Rhine Gorge.
a. Concept of the operation. We are designing this with couples in mind, tourist excursions are being planned for that includes time in Nürnberg, Pilsen, Coburg, and Bingin.
(1) Scheme of maneuver.
(a) Day 0 Tuesday 9 June 2026 Individual Travel
(b) Day 1 Wednesday 10 June Task Force Rust Spur participants will arrive in Frankfurt (FRA) with enough time to clear customs and meet us prior to the 1400 departure time. Rally Point – TBA
(c) Day 2 Thursday 11 June Depart Bamberg at H Hour and enjoy free time in Nurnberg. We will conduct an optional tour through the Reichpartegelande and the Documentation Center. We will enjoy our first Group Dinner at the Bratwursthausle before retiring to Hotel Karl August.
(d) Day 3 Friday 12 June Early breakfast in our hotel prior to our H Hour departure for Vilseck where we will join the Regiment for the (Tentative) 1000 2CR Change of Command followed by a Group Lunch in nearby Amberg. Spend the afternoon exploring Nurnberg.
(e) Day 4 Saturday 13 June Breakfast in our hotel prior to our H Hour departure for Czechia where we will tour the Czech Border Guard Museum: Rozvadov. The Iron Curtain Museum in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, is dedicated to preserving the history of the former border between Czechoslovakia and Germany during the Cold War. Located directly on the border, it aims to document and exhibit the area’s past, focusing on the period of the Iron Curtain. followed by a Group Lunch at Bělá nad Radbuzou. At 1350 we will depart for Hostouň where we will discuss Operation Cowboy. At 1600 we will depart for Pilzen where we will stay at the Hotel Continental, dinner and evening on your own.
(f) Day 5 Sunday 14 June Breakfast in our hotel prior to our optional tour of Pilsner Urquell Brewery, which opened in 1842. On order depart for Františkovy Lázně, a spa town in Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic, at 1530 for a Group Dinner prior to settling into our hotel at Františkovy Lázně
(g) Day 6 Monday 15 June Breakfast in our hotel prior to our H Hour departure for the Border Command Tower, then on to Little Berlin and the Mödlareuth Museum where we will explore and have a Group Lunch at the museum. 1400 we will depart for Oberfranken Kaserne-Hof for a Hof Marker rededication and Kaserne Visit. At 1600 we will depart for Hotel Central and enjoy another Group Dinner where we will invite the Bundeswehr, RCO, and Mödlareuth Museum staff.
(h) Day 7 Tuesday 16 June Breakfast in our hotel prior to our H Hour departure for Coburg where we will visit Veste Coburg, Ehrenburg Palace, before having lunch on the Market Square (on your own) After check-in at DORMERO Hotel Coburg, explore Coberg on your own and enjoy dinner at your own pace.
(i) Day 8 Wednesday 17 June Breakfast in our hotel prior to our H Hour departure for Bingen am Rhein. After check-in at our hotel, TBD, enjoy free time prior to a Group Dinner/Evening Rhine River Cruise Bingen to St. Goar,
(j) Day 9 Thursday 18 June Breakfast in our hotel prior to our to-be-determined wine tasting, free time culmination in our final Group Dinner.
(k) Day 10 Friday 19 June Breakfast in our hotel prior to our departure for Release Point: Flughaven Frankfurt.

(d) Obstacle list. The BUS IS NOT ADA COMPLIANT AND IS NOT HANDICAP ACCESSABLE.
c. Coordinating instructions.
(1) The Association is NOT SPONSORING the trip per se, we are providing an opportunity to collaborate on funding a land-only trip that does not include air transportation or any guarantees. Members are responsible for travel documentation, MANDITORY TRAVEL INSURANCE and transportation to Frankfurt. We will endeavor to arrange for double and single rooms. Gratuities are not included in the final price, and the final price will be determined after interest is assessed and arrangements are finalized with venues. Generally the cost will be one-fortieth (1/40th) of the total trip cost with possible surcharges for single accommodations. The participation will be limited to Forty four (44) travelers.
(2) Payment: all payments will be in the form of debit/credit card. Payments are due on _________________. The Association reserves the right to increase the package price or reduced services should there be an escalation in the euro to US dollar valuation in excess of 5% from print date.
(3) Cancellation/refunds: all payments are nonrefundable upon receipt. Once again, we reiterate the travel insurance is mandatory.
(4) Travel documentation, passports, visas, and ETIAS: are the responsibility of the traveler. Please ensure that there is a minimum of six months left on your passport prior to departure. Currently, ETIAS system is planned for implementation in 4Q 25, plan accordingly. Generally, visas are not required for US travelers to Germany.
(5) Traveler health advisory: participants must be medically and physically fit for travel and to ensure that such traveling will not endanger themselves or others.
(6) In country ground transportation: The bus is not ADA compliant. This means that the bus is not handicap accessible. There is a stairway that must be climbed to get to the seating area. The bus has wifi and charging stations between each seat. This two level bus has a bistro on the lower level that will be staffed and stocked in the panoramic upper level that we think you’ll find spacious and comfortable.
(7) Baggage: Each passenger will be limited to one suitcase not including one personal item or day Pack. We are currently working to establish baggage service from the bus to your hotel room due to the distance between where the bus can drop us and where the hotels may be.
(8) Euros: Europe is increasingly accepting of credit/debit cards as well as contactless payments, the Germans tend to prefer cash, particularly for small purchases. Generally, ATMs are wide- Spread, we recommend advising your bank and withdrawing money once in country.
4. Service Support.

(c) Ration cycle. The group is expected to participate in 7 group meals, breakfasts are included with the rooms
(2) Transportation.
(a) THE BUS IS NOT HNDICAP ACCESSABLE
(3) Services. Handling of Baggage. Travelers are limited to one suitcase per person. Baggage transfer is being arranged where necessary.
(4) Maintenance.
c. Medical evacuation and treatment. Travel insurance is mandatory, Emergency information to be provided to the tour leadership team. Traveler information form: for accountability and is required by the hotels each traveler will need to fill out a traveler information profile.
We will create an information page for each participant to give to the hotels:

5. Command and Signal.
(a) Communications/cell phones: we will ask all travelers to be on WhatsApp or Signal (TBD) and to consider the purchase of an E-SIM prior to departure. Alternatively, your carrier may have an international plan which should be an alternative and acceptable solution.
